我們常說的deadline，比較適合用在溝通自己、內部的時限，或和合作方、廠商之間的溝通，請老闆或客戶配合的時限，用due date比較委婉。

1. Accelerate 加速；促進
We came up with a plan to accelerate progress. 我們擬定了一個加速進度的方案。
Let’s focus on accelerating revenue growth. 我們要專注在營業額成長上。
2. Approach做法、接洽
Approach當名詞是方式；做法：I'd advise another approach. 我會建議另一種做法。
當動詞是著手處理，或接洽：
How would you approach this problem? 你會怎麼處理這個問題？
The company has approached the supermarket chain. 公司已經接洽了那間連鎖公司。
3. Boost 提高；促進
Boost 可以當名詞也可以當動詞，薪水大幅調高是 a big boost in salary，提高士氣是morale-boosting，提升業績是boost sales。
4. Delegate 任命；委派；授權
這個字當名詞是代表，當動詞這樣用：
We have delegated Jane to attend the meeting. 我們請Jane代表參加會議。
The director delegated him to make the decision. 總監已授權由他做出決定。
5. Driven 受到…驅使的
Driven可以形容一個人有決心、為達到目標而努力。
She is driven. 她很有決心。
- driven接在名詞後面，表示受到某事的影響、驅使。
The team is data-driven. 團隊重視資料。
We are looking for talents who are challenge-driven. 我們在找熱愛挑戰的人才。
6. Deliberate 蓄意的，深思熟慮的
deliberate有幾個常見的意思、用法：
I assure you it was not deliberate. 我向你保證那不是故意的。
A deliberate decision 深思熟慮的決定。
It'd be better that we set up a meeting to deliberate on possible solutions.
我們最好召開一個會議仔細商討這個議題。
7. Due date 期限
我們常說的deadline，比較適合用在溝通自己、內部的時限，或和合作方、廠商之間的溝通，請老闆或客戶配合的時限，用due date比較委婉。
8. Execution 執行
實際進行工作常用的字，Excellent execution! 指的是完美、漂亮的執行了一項工作。
The plan was sound, the execution was poor. 計畫很周延，執行很糟。
9. Expand 擴張
Expand可以是擴大實體：
We are considering expanding the store. 我們在考慮擴大店面。
擴大東南亞市場，用expand South East Asia market
Expand也可以是比較抽象的擴大，例如expand the idea讓想法有更多細節。
10. Follow through 進行到底
Follow through有兩種意思，一指打網球或高爾夫球時把動作做足，二指將某件事進行到底，最常用於執行計畫上。
He decided to follow through with his original plan.
他決定把最初的計畫執行完成。
11. Follow up 跟進
開完重要會議後，許多事情需要後續跟進，這時用的就是片語follow up，我們說Follow something up對某事採取進一步行動，或名詞follow-up，This meeting is a follow-up to the one we had last time. 這次是上次的後續會議。
She followed up her interview with a thank you email.
面試結束後她寄出一封感謝函給面試者。
12. Gain 增加；收益
How much do we expect to gain from the deal? 我們預期這筆交易可以獲利多少？
Gain當名詞用時是收益、利潤。
We see gains of five to ten percent this quarter. 這一季我們預估成長百分之五到十。
13. Generate 產生，引起
Generate某事通常是為了生產、創造。
I hope that the discussion will generate some new ideas. 希望討論可以引發一些新想法。
The ability to generate profit is crucial. 創造獲利是關鍵的能力。
14. Kickoff 開始；開賽 順序有誤
Kickoff原意是足球賽的開球，商場上是新計畫、新活動的啟動，例如：the product kickoff產品上市
the kick off of a charity campaign慈善活動開幕
上市前、啟動前的會議，就叫kickoff meeting
15. Leverage 影響力；槓桿作用
工作上我們永遠在想怎麼用最省力的方式發揮最大效用，leverage就是這個意思。
His position gives him leverage to get things done. 他的職位讓他有影響力來達成事情。
This approach provides better leverage. 這個做法能發揮比較大的槓桿效應。
16. Maximize 最大化
Some airlines have cancelled less popular routes in an effort to maximize profits.
一些航空公司取消較不熱門的航線，以讓收益最大化。
常常聽到的還有Maximize efficiency效率極大化。
17. Monitor 監控，監督
Monitor除了是監視器，當動詞就是監督，有仔細掌控的意思。
Please monitor the progress carefully. 請謹慎地監督進度。
18. Showcase 展現
Showcase第一個意思是櫥窗，外商中常用它的第二個意思，展現。
I'd like to see you showcase more leadership. 我希望你能展現更多領導能力。
19. 縮小Revisit 重新審視；重新考慮
字面上的意思是重遊，這個字在職場上也很好用：
Let's revisit this list before we make the decision. 做決定之前我們再重新審視這張表一次。
We did agree to hire more people, but we might need to revisit this now. 我們的確同意聘雇更多人，但是現在可能需要重新考慮。
20. Roundup 綜述；摘要
We'll start with a roundup of each team's performance this month. 我們從本月各組表現的綜合摘要開始。
21. Scenario 情境；方案
Let me suggest a possible scenario. 我想建議一個可能的方案。
常常聽到the best-case scenario/the worst-case scenario，意思就是最好的狀況/最壞的狀況。
The worst-case scenario would be for the branch to be closed down. 最壞的情況是關閉分部。
Now that we've seen the negative angle, let's look at the best-case scenario.
可能的負面情況，我們來看看最好的狀況。
22. Specify 明確提出；列出
希望有清楚確定的資訊，就要會這個字
Could you specify what was wrong with the program? 你可以舉出程式有那些問題嗎？
The contract specifies the amount and material needed. 合約中列出了所需的數量與素材。
23. Momentum 動力；勢頭
談論銷售或行銷活動經常會提到create momentum，意思就是創造聲勢。
24. -wise …方面，從…來說
這個字不那麼正式，但是討論的時候靈活應用，有一種即興趣味。
這些用法常聽到，你也可以嘗試組合自己的-wise。
