中國大國崛起，和美國於世界各處角力較勁，暗潮洶湧早不是新聞。本屆G20於中國杭州舉行，中國趁主場優勢，給美國總統歐巴馬當眾下馬威。

不僅3日到訪時，待遇明顯較其他元首差一截，沒有紅地毯，沒有架設供上下機使用的移動梯，迫使歐巴馬從機腹出口下機，通常該出口僅在抵達危險性較高的國家時使用；此外，美方批准的同行媒體也遭中方隔離於封鎖線外。向來言詞機鋒犀利的歐巴馬稍後發言評論，除捍衛媒體採訪權，也幽默地酸了中方，瞧瞧他怎麼說吧。

I wouldn't overcrank the significance of it. Part of it is we also have a much bigger footprint than a lot of other countries. We’ve got a lot of planes and helicopters and a lot of cars and a lot of guys and, you know, if you're a host country, sometimes it may feel a little bit much. We don’t make an apology for pushing a little bit harder when it comes to press access. We don't leave our values and ideals behind when we take these trips. It can cause some friction.
